Tunnelling

A safe path for water and energy

Heat networks, power cables, sewer systems, drinking water: the pipelines that make cities future-proof have to go somewhere. We build your infrastructure without open excavation—throughout Europe.

Applications

  • Sewer system
  • Collectors
  • Evacuation tunnels for torrential rain
  • Cable tunnels
  • High-voltage connections

Making cities climate-resilient

Our environment is under pressure: heavy rainfall causes flooding, and growing cities require safe and efficient drainage of wastewater and rainwater. At the same time, the need for underground space for energy, water, and data networks is increasing. Through tunnelling, we build sustainable connections that address these challenges underground.

Horizontal pipe jacking

This closed-front drilling technique allows us to cross busy roads or waterways without causing any above-ground disruption. Our approach ensures the smooth execution of short- to medium-length sections in urban areas. For complex routes or larger diameters, we use the term “High Performance Microtunnelling.”

This open-front technique is used for drilling without excavation. A pilot rod is hydraulically driven into the ground from a jacking shaft. The position of the pilot rod can be precisely adjusted during the jacking process, ensuring a pilot drilling with high precision. Next, a casing pipe is connected to the pilot rod and also driven through the ground. An auger transports the excavated soil back to the jacking shaft. The casing follows the exact path of the pilot rod and thus maintains the desired, precise slope along the entire route.

For large-scale tunnels, such as road or rail tunnels, we construct the tunnel wall using prefab concrete segments immediately after the drill has passed through. This allows us to create a robust structure without the need for extensive open excavation work on the surface.
