Behind the Scenes

Verstraete NV aims to restore and renovate the iconic Grand Hotel to create 70 apartments, as well as the historic bar, brasserie, and retail spaces. The challenge with this design? Preserving the building’s historic exterior walls and monumental staircase.

Renovations are nothing new to our teams. For example, we previously renovated Montevideo in Antwerp. That’s why Verstraete nv was able to count on our experience and independence.

A Sustainable Approach to the Project

The foundation work took into account the existing condition of the listed building, the dune sand as the subsoil, and the groundwater level.
