Pidpa Water Production Center
For Pidpa’s new water production center in Oud-Turnhout, we implemented four structural engineering solutions. These include the wells, (return) dewatering, pile foundations, and the complete electromechanical equipment.
- Client: Pidpa
- Period: 2021–2025
- Location: Oud-Turnhout, Antwerp
- Solution: Electromechanics – Dewatering – Vertical Drilling – Foundations
Behind the Scenes
- When work began, the first thing we did was lay the building’s foundations.
- We then constructed 10 drilled water collection wells, each 180 meters deep, and installed 10 pumps at a depth of 30 meters.
- Our colleagues in Electromechanics handled the in-house production of materials, which amounted to 16,000 work hours, or 2,000 workdays. We were on site for 1.5 years to install the piping. During that time, we installed a total of 55 km of piping.
A Sustainable Approach to the Project
- SDG 6 – The water treatment plant operates entirely without chlorine. From now on, the water will be treated using a biological iron removal process, which significantly reduces the use of chemicals. This ensures that people have access to clean, drinkable water.
